A Hyatt hotel in Nashville has banned two men who caused “mass panic” on New Year’s Day after they jumped from the roof of the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

According to security at the hotel, the two men were guests at the bar and at some point, approached the ledge and then jumped over. As the two jumped, patrons began screaming as they ran to look over the edge of the building. The two men had parachutes, which they used to coast toward an adjacent parking lot where they quickly packed their chutes into a parked vehicle and drove away.

Nashville resident Amanda Bagley was at the rooftop lounge when the incident occurred and shared a now-viral video of the two BASE jumpers leaping off the ledge of the building.

Hyatt confirmed the incident in a statement sent to WKRN. “We can confirm that an isolated situation occurred in the early evening on Jan. 1, 2021, at Grand Hyatt Nashville involving two guests of the hotel. Two guests wearing parachutes jumped to the street level from the hotel’s rooftop lounge,” the statement read. “The hotel immediately engaged local authorities, and the guests were subsequently evicted and banned from the hotel. We vehemently condemn this kind of reckless behavior.”

WKRN also cited a Nashville Metro Police report stating the incident caused a “mass panic” for patrons at the bar.
