Kim Jong Un has nothing to prove. The world knows he’s probably the most sadistic and sick leader of any country in the world. Scoreboard.  He’s in a league of his own. He holds on to power with a fist that is even stronger than iron. North Koreans live in a perpetual cycle of fear, and for a good reason.  Their communist hereditary dictator knows no bounds when it comes to keeping citizens in line with cruel and unusual punishment.

Case in point — the entire family that was sentenced to life in prison for one family member being found to be in possession of a Bible. This includes a two-year-old child. Who will spend life in prison!

This all went down in 2009, but details just surfaced in a report on worldwide religious freedoms published by the State Department. It chronicles a number of horrible punishments directed at Christians and other minorities in North Korea.

This is not a country club prison white collar criminals in the United States get sentenced to.  This family and the child were sent to political prison camps where they face harsh physical mistreatment in the worst of conditions.

Being a Christian in North Korea is not something you want to admit. Reports estimate that between 50,000 and 70,000 citizens are imprisoned for their faith. And remember, North Korea takes things to the max with their punishment, and often up to three generations of the immediate family of the person found guilty go to prison.

Years ago, Pyongyang was a haven for Christianity and was referred to as the “Jerusalem of the East.”  That’s a far cry from the current conditions, where people are routinely arrested for simply lingering too long after a Christian service or listening to Christian music.
