Ron DeSantis and his Presidential campaign received what would be the equivalent of a job review, and it did not go well.  Robert Bigelow is the largest single donor to the Florida Governor’s campaign.  He made his fortune in the hotel industry and has donated $20 million of it to a super PAC called “Never Back Down.”  Bigelow said that so far, he hasn’t seen much of an ROI for that $20 million, and he’s done sending checks for the time being.

“Not until I see that he’s able to generate more on his own. I’m already too big a percentage. A lot of his donors are still on the fence.”

Bigelow is right; the next single-largest donor to the DeSantis campaign is Douglas Leone, who has given $2 million. One of the problems Bigelow sees with the campaign DeSantis is running is that his message is not resonating. “He does need to shift to get moderates. He’ll lose if he doesn’t…Extremism isn’t going to get you elected.

While DeSantis is spinning his wheels and aggravating his top donor, nothing seems to slow down the Donald Trump express train in the Republican Party. Even during a week when he was indicted on more federal charges, his popularity doesn’t waver. The former President has over 50% support among Republican primary voters, while DeSantis is mired in a pack of possible Republican alternative.
