There was a time when Google was the not only the King of all search engines; it was so popular it became a verb. It was part of our lexicon. While it still rules in traditional searches, it might not be for long since Microsoft was a little quicker to the AI trigger by partnering with OpenAI.

The world Google dominated is changing. Word is Samsung could be making Bing the default program on their devices, according to a story in the New York Times. 

If you think this might cause a bit of a panic amongst Googlers, especially the top dogs of the company, you are very right. They are freaking out and in full-on scramble mode, updating their current search engine as part of an aggressive project called Magi. 

It’s so important that 160 employees are working in what Google calls a “sprint room” to increase the personalization capabilities, according to that NYT story. 

A company-wide “code red” was issued four months ago as ChatGPT got popular — and the sweat started really flowing from C-suite offices when Microsoft and Bing hooked up. 

The Times quoted a spokesperson from Google saying, “Not every brainstorm deck or product idea leads to a launch, but as we’ve said before, we’re excited about bringing new A.I.-powered features to search, and will share more details soon.”

Their future and status in the world of search depend on it.
