Maybe this will help Rush Limbaugh finally grow an audience for his radio show. Ah, yeah, he already has an empire in place and has been inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, but he did something this week that is a first for him: He joined Twitter. While his EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) team has had various accounts before, including @rushlimbaugh, which has over 588K followers, Limbaugh now is actively writing and promoting content personally on @RealRLimbaugh.  Limbaugh made it clear why he’s doing it now. He feels it’s necessary to help to re-elect President Trump.

“We are gonna be doubling down,” Limbaugh said. “We’re gonna be doing everything we can in these last three weeks to take the message of preserving the American way of life, to take the message that America is a good and decent, it is almost a savior of a country, that it is being maligned, it is being savagely impugned.”

It will be interesting to see how long it takes Twitter to verify the account. As of Wednesday, it was missing the blue check. Once Limbaugh flipped the switch and announced his Twitter on his radio show, which draws 15.5 million listeners per week, his fans started following him. Limbaugh has 233.9K followers and currently he’s following only one account. Any guesses? @CNN? @SpeakerPelosi? @nytimes? Actually no, it’s @realDonaldTrump.
