It will be a lot easier to impersonate LeBron James on Twitter moving forward because the billionaire has no intention of forking over the money to have a verified checkmark starting April 1.

He will be one of many to lose their verification if they don’t pay for the service — which costs $7 per month on an annual plan or $8 per month on a monthly plan. As of Friday evening, there was no word if a Go Fund Me page has been set up to help King James defray the costs and keep him verified.

Here’s what LeBron tweeted about the matter Friday.  “Welp guess my blue bill (check) will be gone soon cause if you know me I Ian’t paying the 5.

Is he trying to say he’s cheap?

Welp, the good news for LeBron is that he might be able to keep his blue check since his employer, the Los Angeles Lakers, are part of Twitter’s Verified Organizations program.

Companies and nonprofits who pay $1,000 per month can have their employees verified with gold checkmarks.

Elon Musk jumped into this topic on Friday, hopefully calming any fears LeBron’s fans may have about whether they can trust that his tweets really come from him in the future.

“Any individual person’s Twitter account affiliated with a verified organization is automatically verified.”
