Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer, although it has not yet been disclosed what kind. It is not prostate cancer, but was found during a prostate procedure.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the statement read. It added that Charles, 75, will continue to complete official paperwork and looks forward to returning to “full public duty” as soon as possible.

The BBC reports that other senior royals will stand in for him during the treatment. They also report the King was seen Sunday at a church service in Sandringham, Norfolk. He returned from Norfolk to London on Monday.

Charles reportedly received the prostate examination over a week ago. He had made his examination public as part of an initiative to raise awareness and encourage more men to get checked. The National Health Service (NHS) claims there has been an uptick in prostate issues.

Should Charles pass away, he will be succeeded by his 41-year-old son Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.
