Has there ever been a more wholesome, feel-good, happy-go-lucky sitcom than the ABC hit show “Happy Days,” which dominated ratings from 1974 to 1984? Leave it to the year 2020 to take it down a path of division that is a metaphor for what the country is going through in general.

The cast of the show was planning a reunion, and the plot sounded pretty interesting. Since the show was based in Milwaukee, the cast would reunite for a virtual reunion on behalf of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Think about it: The Fonz, Richie, Joanie, Ralph Malph and the whole gang gathering for another milkshake at Arnold’s! Maybe playing a tune on the jukebox!

But if it sounds too good to be true, it is, because Scott Baio, who played Chachi in the show, is a pretty outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, which means he is probably a no-show.

To the rescue: John Stamos, Uncle Jessie in “Full House” and star of a hilarious Geico commercial, who volunteered to save the day and play the role of Chachi. It all played out on Twitter. Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham on the show) tweeted “The most important election of our lifetimes is right around the corner and Wisconsin is a must-win swing state. So, I’m thrilled to announce a #HappyDaysReunion to support @WisDems on Oct 25. Chip in any amount to attend.”

Stamos offered his services, saying “Can I play Chachi?” Then Baio jumped in and took it to the next level, tweeting, “Shouldn’t you be taking care of Aunt Becky?” That would be a reference to Stamos’ “Full House” castmate Lori Loughlin, who is dealing with her own issues these days.

Bottom line: The show is happening. Tickets are available for a $1 donation, with proceeds targeted toward “Making Trump a one-term president.”

No word if Laverne and Shirley can get the day off from the Shotz Brewery and drop by too.
