The pro-Palestine protests that erupted at Columbia University have spilled out to the rest of the country, leading to clashes with police at college campuses in Ohio, Texas, Michigan, Minnesota, California, and more.
At the state-funded City College of New York, students set up an encampment promoting “intifada,” an Arabic word meaning “uprising” or “shaking off” used by Palestinians for their violent protests against Israel. “Palestine calls this University Intifada,” said activist organizer Nerdeen Kiswani into a megaphone. “We have a right to control where our tuition goes and that it should never go to oppressing any people anywhere!” Kiswani added, calling for a total divestment of the school into any companies that do business with Israel.
The student protest movement is expanding.

Republican Senators Josh Hawley (MO) and Tom Cotton (AK) have called on President Biden to deploy the national guard in order to protect pro-Israel students. News network CBS claimed there has since been an uptick in threats of violence against Palestine protestors.
At the University of Texas at Austin, nearly 60 arrests were made after demonstrators clashed with law enforcement, who tried to break up the crowds with horses and riot gear.

Texas Governor Greg Abott said protestors “belong in jail” and said “antisemitism will not be tolerated in Texas.”
Arrests being made right now & will continue until the crowd disperses.
These protesters belong in jail.
Antisemitism will not be tolerated in Texas. Period.
Students joining in hate-filled, antisemitic protests at any public college or university in Texas should be expelled. https://t.co/XhLlQdvUl0
