If you thought fentanyl was a catastrophic lethal crisis, wait until you hear about the new synthetic drug that is more deadly and now showing up in the U.S.

It’s called Protonitazene, and it is roughly three times more powerful than fentanyl.

To put that into perspective, remember that fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin and has 100 times the strength of morphine.  In other words, this is terrible news.

The Center for Forensic Science Research & Education had its eye on this new wave of killer pills back in December, but it’s ramped up to become a serious problem in the past few months.

A Fox News story referenced the lifesaving drug called Narcan.  This is a nasal spray that helps save lives in the event of a drug overdose caused by fentanyl.  It has saved countless lives recently, but if someone overdoses on a protonitazene overdose, it will take two or three sprays to save a life.  That magnifies the destructive powers of this new synthetic killer.

The sad thing about most fentanyl overdoses and what is sure to come with this new drug is that people using the cocaine or heroin laced with it have no idea. In many cases, overdose victims are trying heroin or cocaine for the first time.

Over 107,000 people have died of overdoses in the past year in the United States.  By far, the leading cause has been fentanyl or other opioids.

Medical professionals are seeing a terrible but consistent trend of people becoming addicted to pain killers with prescription opioids. They then move on to more potent drugs, like heroin that is laced with fentanyl.
