Elon Musk tweeted what most rational media connoisseurs have known about the Uber-woke New York Times for a while — it’s unreadable. The topic came up Sunday as Musk made fun of the NYT for not paying to verify their Twitter account. The newspaper lost its blue checkmark despite having almost 55 million followers.

Here’s another dig Musk had for the paper whose tagline is “all the news that’s fit to print.”

“Also, their feed is the Twitter equivalent of diarrhea. It’s unreadable. They would have far more real followers if they only posted their top articles. Same applies to all publications.”

On Saturday, accounts had to decide if they were down for paying the $8 monthly fee to keep their verified blue check. The NYT, just like LeBron James and many others, made a point of announcing how they were above doing that and giving up their verification.

“Oh ok, we’ll take it off then,” Musk tweeted.

You’d think $96 per year would be a worthwhile investment for the New York Times to ensure people hear their authentic left-leaning reporting and not that of an imposter sight impersonating them.  Apparently not. Could it backfire on them? You’d think that’s a strong possibility.

The relaunched verification service is also supposed to bring users fewer ads; they can post longer videos and have their tweets featured favorably.
