David DePape, the 44-year-old man who broke into the Pelosi home and attacked Paul with a hammer, received 30 years in prison after being convicted of attempting to kidnap then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and committing assault.

Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley delivered the ruling Friday afternoon after jurors found the suspect guilty of the charges in November. Prosecutors had requested a 40-year sentence, but instead DePape received 20 years for one count and 30 years for another count, with the prison sentences to be served simultaneously.

As Valuetainment previously reported, Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul was attacked in October 2022 in the middle of the night after DePape broke into his home. Police arrived around 2:30 am, and Pelosi was hospitalized, undergoing surgery to repair a skull fracture and various injuries to his arm and hands.
