Not only did Homer Laffoon lose his mother when Anne Heche tragically died after crashing her car into a home in Los Angeles summer, he got stuck with her credit card bills.

A collection agency filed a claim on April 26 on behalf of Citibank and is telling Laffoon he has to pay a total of $36,131.35 because the court named him as the administrator of her estate.

The total amount of credit card debt she left behind was $62,000.

The extended family has been locked in some pretty intense in-fighting since Heche’s death. Laffoon had to battle it out in court against Heche’s ex, James Tupper, to get control of the estate. Tupper is the water of Heche’s 14-year-old son Atlas, and during the court drama, Tupper claimed that over $200,000 in jewelry was missing.

The judge assigned to the case said he’d yank Laffoon as administrator if he discovered any funny business had been going on. The most recent appraisal of her estate said her net worth was a shade over $110,000.

Her death was as bizarre as it was tragic. After losing control, she plowed her Mini Cooper into a house in Mar Vista. It sparked a fire that destroyed the home.

An autopsy revealed that Heche was not on drugs at the time of her death.
