Former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform released on IOS for Apple users Sunday will soon be made available for Android.  The point here is it there currently is not an Android version.

This can be confusing and probably explains why an Android app with a similar name has been downloaded over 100,000 times. The Android imposter is called “MAGA Hub – Truth Social Trump,” and it pops up when the words “Truth Social” are put into the search bar.  The Android app aggregates content from other users and features a phot-based feed.

The new app Trump Media released for Apple works like Twitter.

Here’s where things really get interesting. Users of the MAGA Hub app have been charged $29 for in-app purchases. On top of that, they find out they are automatically subscribed to a global chat group, according to a story in Insider.

To recap- there’s a similar sounding app available on Android that tens of thousands of people have confused with Trump’s new platform. Users are forced to pay almost $30 and get pummeled with a steady stream of messages and memes on the Android version.

That MAGA Hub app has almost 7,000 reviews, many not very complimentary. A user named Hexo Marhetbar gave it a one-star review along with this comment. “Lists itself as ‘Truth Social Trump’ but make no mistake. This is false advertising. This is not Trump’s Truth Social. Keep that in mind.”

The app developer is Lukas Niessen, who lives in Germany. He’s a pretty crafty guy who has a game called “Grand Among Craft,” which is a mix of “Grand Theft Auto,” “Among Us,” and “Minecraft.”
