Nothing like a little A-list actor trash-talking. George Clooney was asked about casting Ocean’s Eleven over 20 years ago, and he had some choice words for a couple of movie stars who dared tell him they weren’t interested.

Cooney blasted Mark Wahlberg and Johnny Depp for passing on the role of Linus Caldwell. That’s the gig that went to Matt Damon instead.

“Some very famous people told us to f— right off.  Marl Wahlberg, Johnny Depp.  There were others. They regret it now. I regret doing f—ing ‘Batman.”

Big George can apparently hold a grudge! He was speaking at the 2023 TCM Classic Film Festival.  Was he joking? Or was he really ticked off at the rejection? He’s a notorious prankster, so he probably had his tongue placed in his cheek.

Plus, Clooney got the last laugh since he made three Ocean movies, and word is had a hell of a time on the set with each one.

Clooney is now 61 years old, which seems crazy.

Back to the actors that passed on working with Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts.

Add Owen and Luke Wilson to the list.  And Ben Affleck joked on a recent SiriusXM podcast that he, too, turned Clooney to pound sand because Clooney had yet to prove himself consistently.  “He came to me on Ocean’s, and I was like, ‘I don’t know, George. I don’t know if you’re a star. I don’t know if you’re doing good. I’m gonna see. How do these franchises work? Who are these other actors you assembled? Is this gonna be any good? Who is this [Steven] Soderbergh? I’m not ready for this. And I don’t believe in you yet. I’m gonna keep you at an arm’s length.’”
