A ‘Wheel of Fortune’ player missed out on $45,000 when she failed to guess the bonus puzzle, which in many viewers’ opinions was unfair and “ridiculous.”
The game show’s player, Angela was given a category called “What Are You Doing” and guessed the letters “M, H, D, and O.” After a few of her predicted letters were turned over, she was met with the prompt “_ O _ N _ N _ THE _ R _ _”
“Joining the cramp, joining the cra-, oop!” she guessed after nearly saying “crap.”
“Joining the brag?!” Angela said as her final answer before the buzzer.
“Oop!” host Pat Sajak responded to her unsuccessful puzzle-solving effort.
“Joining the fray,” Sajak revealed after Vanna turned the remaining hidden letters.
“You got joining…that was a really nice try,” the host reassuringly chuckled, as a sympathetic “Aww” can be heard from audience members in the background.
As the $45,000 prize money was displayed, Angela was in good spirits replying, “Not a problem.” She still left the game show with $20,563 she acquired in preliminary rounds.

Soon after the show concluded, “Wheel of Fortune” fans at home didn’t take the defeat as well as the contestant did.
“#Angela on @WheelofFortune got a piece of CRAP bonus round. I have NEVER heard of ‘Joining the Fray’ before in my ENTIRE life. Can we get some kind of sponsor to give this woman a prize?” one person tweeted. “What the hell kind of puzzle was that??? Come on now. ridiculous!!”
In agreement, another viewer added, “Exactly!! I needed to get on Twitter and make sure I wasn’t the only one going ‘wtf is that!!'”
“Angela you had one hell of a night, Joining the fray who the hell ever comes up with something like that as that’s freaking ridiculous…BOOOOOOO WOF for that,” another fuming user wrote.
The tweets continued to pour in, supporting Angela and frustrated by the uncommon phrase which would be difficult for most to guess.
“Seriously? Joining the Fray? Your CFO clearly didn’t want to give away money tonight. Shame on you,” wrote another.
This wasn’t the first “Wheel of Fortune” calamity in recent times that largely upset the fan base.
Last month, a contestant named Micki guessed the puzzle wrong, triggering major disappointment among viewers. Micki was only three letters away from getting not only the million-dollar wedge from the wheel, but also a trip to Croatia.
Given the category of “Thing,” the puzzle had already revealed letters which read “A ROARING FIRE IN THE FIRE _ _ A _ E.”
Micki simply needed to guess a letter in the seemingly obvious puzzle and that would lead her to solving it, collecting the Croatia trip in addition to the million-dollar wedge. After Sajak prompted her to choose a letter, she nervously replied with the letter “S.”
Micki seemed defeated following the sound of the buzzer which signaled her guess was wrong, while disgruntled audience members were heard grumbling with dismay over her costly letter choice.
