There is one big difference between Michael Jordan and LeBron James, and it has nothing to do with basketball talent, scoring records, titles, or vertical leaps.

LeBron is polarizing.  There are as many people who don’t like him as he has fans, primarily because he throws himself into political issues and isn’t afraid to annoy people.  Michael did one thing — dominate and entertain. He stayed in his lane, and he’ll never be eclipsed.

You can be damn sure he never got clowned publicly like King James does — with unknown agitator wannabe Dillon Brooks being the latest to try to get under LBJ’s skin by calling him “old.”

The Lakers are playing Memphis in the NBA playoffs now, but getting as much attention is LeBron’s Twitter account holding on to a verified checkmark, even though James said there’s no way he’d be paying the amount of money it costs to be a Grande Mocha per month to stay verified.

His media advisor confirmed that James did not pay.  Now we know who did — a Twitter employee emailed James to “Extend a complimentary subscription to Twitter Blue for your account, @kingjames, on behalf of Elon Musk.”

Of course, LeBron can’t take the gesture for what it was; he had to “decline” the offer. Bold move.

Musk confirmed in a tweet that, yes, he’s paying for some of the cheap or stubborn celebs too cool to pay for the checkmark.

“I’m paying for a few personally,” he said.

As for the feud between James and Brooks, they resume their first-round playoff battle in LA.
