There aren’t too many things Warren Buffet touches that do not turn to gold. The Oracle of Omaha has a lifelong track record of being a genius as an investor, making him the sixth richest person in the world, with a net worth of $117 billion.  While Buffett makes a lot of money, he stays rich by spending very little of it.

The house in Omaha he has lived in for decades exemplifies that.  H purchased it in 1958 for $31,500.  Adjusted for inflation, that amount today would be $328,990, according to a Yahoo story.  That is about 0.000279% of his total net worth.  And he loves the house, telling the BBC in 2009, ”I couldn’t imagine having a better house.”

It is also the only house Buffet owns, and while the appreciation of it has been spectacular, he feels he could have made more money if he had done one thing differently. This is what he told Berkshire Hathaway shareholders back in 2010.  ”Home ownership makes sense for most Americans… All things considered, the third best investment I ever made was the purchase of my home, though I would have made far more money had I instead rented and used the purchase money to buy stocks.”

There is no more prominent legend in the investment world than Buffet.  He’s the OG, as brilliant and successful now as ever. As for the best investment he has ever made, Buffet famously said it was the wedding rings he purchased when he married.
