John Mackey is the cofounder of Whole Foods and outgoing CEO of the grocery giant.  He’s outspoken, opinionated, and intelligent.

He’s also a big fan of capitalism, and what he told the hosts of the podcast called Reason, which is run by the libertarian magazine of the same name, is not exactly great news for fellow fans of what made America the greatest country on earth.

He believes he’s not only seeing the woekeification of America but something even worse than that. Here are comments in a Fortune story.

“Socialists are taking over. They’re marching through the institutions. They’re taking everything over. They’re taking over education. It looks like they’ve taken over a lot of corporations. It looks like they’ve taken over the military, and it’s just continuing.”

Mackey made news back in 2020 by referring to socialism as “trickle-up poverty.”  He is checking out as CEO next month, and that’s when he intends to speak his mind since, in his opinion, he’s been muzzled since 2009 when the Wall Street Journal ran an op-ed of his where he compared the Affordable Care Act to fascism.

Mackey also went off on young workers during the podcast. He feels that, as a whole, they don’t seem like they want to work.  Here’s more from the Fortune story.

“Younger people aren’t quick to work because they want meaningful work. You can’t expect to start with meaningful work. You’re going to have to earn it over time.”

If that’s just a taste of what Mackey plans on delivering post-retirement, someone sign this man up for a podcast now.
