Have you noticed one of the byproducts of COVID? Every airline pretty much stopped with most mid-air amenities, including the ability to purchase alcohol at 35,000 feet above earth.

All the major carriers put the kibosh on cocktails, but one of them is going back to how things used to be starting this week.

Starting Monday, United will expand its in flight beverage selection to include hard liquor on select flights.  Here’s the catch if you are flying on United; the trip has to be at least 301 miles for the drink cart to start rolling.

Here’s a little taste of the statement the airline released.

”The ability to offer a complete food and beverage menu is something that we know is important to our customers and we’re excited to continue to enhance our onboard service while keeping the safety of our employees and customers at the forefront of all we do.”

Here’s a little known fact about United flights. The drinks are on the house (at least the beer and wine) on United Economy flights on trans-Atlantic flights and flights from the U.S. to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru.  Same thing going the other way to Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Tahiti and Taiwan.

America, United and Southwest all cut back on the booze this summer, blaming unruly passengers for it.  Yes, some idiots overdue it in the air.

United is the first airline to decide to treat passengers like responsible adults.  We’ll see if the others follow suit.
