It’s been awhile since Tom Cruise has starred in a movie, thanks to Covid.
But he did have a starring role in a dramatic scene that millions of people enjoyed worldwide back in December, thanks to Covid.
It was the epic meltdown the star of Mission: Impossible 7 had, as he unloaded a verbal tirade on part of the crew shooting a scene with the star in London.
Cruise addressed the viral video that circled the globe a dozen times on Tuesday, and in an interview with Empire Magazine, Cruise defended his tirade.
“It can get fraught. Fraught and personal. I said what I said. There was a surge happening in England also at that point. And there was a lot at stake at that point. But it wasn’t my entire crew. I had the crew leave the set, and it was just select people. And the wonderful thing is that we never shut down again. And here we are, continuing to film.”
If you don’t remember all the details, Cruise was upset (to put it mildly) about the fact some members of the crew were not following Covid protocols to the T. He felt it could have resulted in further delays, and another costly shutdown of production.
Now, reuniting with the crew again on some re-shoots, he said it was great to just get back to filming. “All those emotions were going through my mind. And for the whole crew to know that we’d started rolling on a movie was just a huge relief… it was very emotional.”
Mission: Impossible 7 is scheduled to make its debut in a year, May 27, 2022 to be precise.
