Tiger Woods was in front of the media Tuesday, talking to a room full of reporters in the Bahamas for the first time since he almost killed himself in a car accident in Palos Verdes, California.

Of course, he was pressed to speak about specifics on the accident, but Tiger held firm, keeping the topic on golf and telling the scribes to look up the details on the crash if they wanted to.

“All those answers have been answered in the investigation. So, you can read about all of that there, in the police report.”

The accident happened nine months ago.,  He had to be cut out of the SUV he was driving by jaws of life, and he was in the hospital for weeks recovering from an injury that could have ended his golf career permanently.

Tiger was asked if he had flashbacks to that terrible day.

“I don’t, no. I’m very lucky in that way.”

Say this about Tiger – he’s one strong cat.

The police report said Tiger was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and had no signs of impairment.  There were no open alcohol containers in the vehicle; according to the police report, no pills were found at the scene.

Make no mistake about it, though; Tiger knows that the accident could have killed him.

“I’m lucky to be alive and also have a limb.”

Tiger has had an entire decade’s worth of injuries, primarily to his knees and back, but what he was forced to recover from after his accident was the worst.

“This one’s been much more difficult. The knee stuff was one thing. That’s one level. Then the back. With this right leg. … it’s hard to explain how difficult it is—being immobile for three months. Just to lay there. I was just looking forward to getting outside. That was a goal of mine. Especially for a person who lived his entire life outside, that was a goal.”
