Former President Donald Trump is fighting back on both the East Coast and West Coast against organizations looking to take him down and disassociate themselves from him.
With his impeachment trial set to start in the Senate on Monday, Trump took some shots at the SAG-AFTRA board, the union that represents actors and newscasters, whose board of directors overwhelmingly voted that Trump was so out of line during the January 6 Capitol riots, that a disciplinary hearing was scheduled that could have resulted in Trump being permanently kicked out of the union. (Spoiler alert: they would have booted him for sure).
It won’t get that far however. The most entertaining part of this story is the letter that the former president sent to the union Thursday, officially resigning from SAG-AFTRA.
He addressed SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris personally, calling out the union leader, who is a former D-list actress who played the seventh lead on the show “Beverly Hills 90210” back in the early and mid-1990’s. “While I’m not familiar with your work,” Trump said in the letter, “I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Zealander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice – just to name a few!”
Trump went on to say in the letter that “I’ve also greatly helped the cable news television business (said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics), and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others.”
The level of hatred for Trump in Hollywood is so high its hard to calculate. The ironic thing is he would increase the ratings of any show he appears on, and while his political instincts have proven to be his downfall, his comedic timing and ability to always entertain puts him in a league of his own.
