Ted Cruz explains how the new federal school-choice tax credit is designed to work beginning in 2027. Taxpayers in participating states will be able to contribute up to $1,700 to qualifying scholarship-granting organizations and receive a dollar-for-dollar, nonrefundable federal tax credit, potentially directing money toward scholarships for eligible K–12 students instead of paying the same amount in federal income tax. Cruz argues that the provision could significantly expand access to educational options for families across the country.
