Charles Koch of the Koch Industries empire is making a large digital ad buy through his Political Action Committee to take down former President Donald Trump.

We can expect their purchase to be at least within tens of millions of dollars. The PAC spent $400 million last midterm election in efforts to progress their Congressional agenda.

As one may remember, Charles Koch started his political influence arm decades ago with his brother David, who passed in 2019. They inherited the chemical behemoth Koch Industries from their father, which generates about $125 billion in revenue in a single year.

Charles Koch, famously known as libertarian and therefore standing on the liberal side when it comes to social issues, has been a huge GOP funder but is no friend of Trump’s.

Koch claims he is simply not supporting Trump because he “can’t win.” But Koch is most likely incensed that Trump has been restrictive on immigration and opposes free trade with reflexive sycophancy towards China.

It then comes as no surprise that in 2018, Trump hit back at the Koch brothers saying, “The globalist Koch Brothers, who have become a total joke in real Republican circles, are against Strong Borders and Powerful Trade. I never sought their support because I don’t need their money or bad ideas.”

Koch’s Americans for Prosperity PAC won’t be supporting a single candidate and will instead focus all of their ire on Trump, alone. It’s hard to say who Koch’s pick would be. Ron DeSantis criticized Trump’s First Step Act, stating that he would repeal it in efforts to run to Trump’s right.

The First Step Act dramatically reduced prison federal prison sentences for non violent offenders through a combination of more lenient minimum sentencings and extended time off for good behavior. Koch spent tens of millions of dollars to get this bill passed, putting him between a rock and a hard place.

The line of attack is to be expected.

“60% of voters don’t want Trump to be president, the American people are ready to move on,” one ad says.

One ad admits, “Trump did a lot of good things as president,” but then it reminds voters that “Trump can’t win!”

These ads will air in the early primary states of Nevada, Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

It makes sense Trump stating that Koch has “become a total joke in real Republican circles.” With these nothing-burger ads, the former president has a point.
