Thanksgiving is two weeks away, and somehow you were chosen to host this year’s massive feast. This may be your first time hosting and preparing the holiday meal, or maybe last year was not the best, so you’re seeking help. “Taste of Home” has prepared a date-by-date Thanksgiving list of what to do.

Here’s a simplified version of what to do.
Two weeks before, you should start switching out the decor in your home for turkey day and fall decor. This is the only time you should practice new recipes. Please do not try a new recipe on the day of Thanksgiving and then hope for the best. The family is not interested in being test tasters for your cranberry cheesecake rolls or the latest creation you found on TikTok.

A few days before Thanksgiving, it’s time to pick up the planning. You’re already behind if you have yet to go to the grocery store. A few days before Thanksgiving, you should be on your second or third trip to the grocery store. At this time, you should only be finishing your shopping list. Prep your pie crusts, defrost the turkey, confirm your guests, and clean up the house.

The day before Thanksgiving, put on your running shoes. You will be busy. Make an up-to-date checklist of anything you may still need. Make sure to chill all of your beverages for the party. Season the turkey and set the table. Be sure also to bake all of your desserts the day before.
Take some time for yourself on the morning of Thanksgiving and eat breakfast. Then get it all done.
