The show was recently confirmed for season 2.

Netflix has announced that they will launching the largest reality show competition in history, modeled after the hit Korean series, Squid Game. The series made history last September when it first aired on Netflix, holding record as the streaming service’s most popular show of all time. In the first 28 days, Squid Game received 1.65 BILLION view hours.

Netflix will be gathering 456 participants from all over the world to compete against one another for a cash prize of $4.56 MILLION.

This is the largest cash prize ever in the history of game-show competitions. The reality competition will be 10 episodes long and the challenges will be inspired by the show itself.

“Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment,” said Brandon Riegg, Netflix vice president of unscripted and documentary series.

“Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever, full of tension and twists, with the biggest ever cash prize at the end,” Riegg said.
