For anyone on the East Coast or Midwest, I don’t need to remind you of how crappy the weather is this Christmas, but for some perspective, it appears to be one for the history books.

The phrase “bomb cyclone” is new to man, and it’s something that won’t be forgotten for a long time.

Buffalo is used to massive amounts of snow, and another 36 inches is expected by Tuesday.  On top of that, the area has been battered with 80-mph winds the past few days.

Officials call it a “major disaster,” and there will be more days of hardship for this region.

The reports of the havoc wreaked by this monster storm are staggering. There are snow drifts over six feet high in the Buffalo area. Buildings have literally frozen near Lake Erie.

Emergency services staff have been working around the clock trying to restore power, and in New York City, ConEdison has urged residents to conserve energy if they can.

The cold weather has dipped all the way down to the Gulf Coast. Freeze Warnings have been issued in areas not used to it. Ninety-four million people in the U.S. were under Wind Chill advisories on Christmas morning.

The human toll is terrible; at least 32 people have been killed across the country because of this deadly storm.
