Nuke Bizzle, aka Fontrell Baines, was smart enough to get temporarily rich, ripping off the government to the tune of $1.2 million in an unemployment benefits fraud.
But he wasn’t bright enough to keep his mouth shut about it. No, he bragged about it. In a rap video. That he put on YouTube. With lyrics that boast about doing “My swagger for EDD,” as he held up envelopes that looked exactly like the ones that held pre-paid debit cards that came in the mail, and singing about getting rich by going “to the bank with a stack of these.”
The scam was rampant all over the Los Angeles area in 2020, where the 33-year-old Memphis native did his financial fraud. He admitted in a plea deal to possessing and using debit cards in the names of third parties, including identity theft victims.
He had access to multiple addresses in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, and at least 92 debit cards pre-loaded with over a million dollars in fraudulently obtained benefits were sent to those homes. According to the Feds, Bizzle and his buddies spent about 4704K in Vegas and elsewhere.
He’s facing up to 20 years in federal prison for the mail fraud, and he also pled guilty to a firearms count that could get him another decade behind bars.
