In a space on X Tuesday night, Tucker Carlson told our Patrick Bet-David and several other co-hosts that he does not want the job of Vice President, explaining that he does not believe he would be a good fit for the role.

Bet-David, the founder and CEO of Valuetainment, asked Tucker if he would accept Trump’s nomination to his ticket. “If you did get that phone call, would you entertain it? And two, if not, do you think if you could be unbiased in the most possible way, do you think you would make a good VP candidate?” he asked.

“I don’t know if I’d make a good VP candidate. I mean probably not, actually,” Tucker replied. “I mean, I’ve never done anything like that at all. I don’t think I’m crazy, just to be totally blunt with you, but I’m a little eccentric and I’m definitely committed to saying what I think. And so, the structure of politics is totally foreign to me. I know I could give good speeches, because I like giving speeches, but you know, there’s a lot more than giving speeches. So what I be good at that? Probably not. But it’s just impossible to imagine ever being involved in politics.”

He continued: “And I’m not being coy or anything like that, it’s just—I’ve covered it my whole life, the number of politicians I would voluntarily have a meal with is, you know, fingers on a hand. I just don’t like them. And so I generally think you should stick to things that come naturally to you, that you like, you know, that you have an innate aptitude for. In my case it’s writing and talking, but it’s not been like, raising money or reading talking points. I don’t know, I just don’t see myself doing anything like that, to be honest with you. Though, I mean, who knows, God knows where this country’s going.”

Other speakers in the Space included Tristan Tate, Brian Krassenstein, Benny Johnson, Candace Owens, and Charlie Kirk.

This X Space was a kind of follow-up to a Space held on Sunday between Alex Jones, Elon Musk, and several other populist figures regarding the occasion of Alex Jones’ Twitter/X account being reinstated. Tucker Carlson also announced his new network on Monday, and released a plethora of new content on X to ring it in.

Additionally, this follows a scoop from news outlet Axios last week which claimed that Melania Trump has been pushing for Tucker Carlson as Trump’s running mate. A person close to Trump allegedly told Axios that Melania believes Carlson would prove to be a “powerful onstage extension” of her husband. Furthermore, Axios claimed multiple sources told them that Trump’s main criteria for a running mate are believing that the 2020 election was stolen and that Pence “wimped out” by allowing Joe Biden’s victory to be certified.

In early November, Trump said he would consider choosing Tucker as VP, citing his “great common sense.” “I like Tucker a lot; I guess I would, I think I’d say I would,” Trump said on the “Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.”

According to others in the Trump camp, the idea of choosing Carlson has previously been rejected due to the concern that the former Fox News host would outshine Trump. Similarly, people on Trump’s campaign staff believe Carlson cannot be controlled, which could prove to be a liability.

However, it is said that the two men talk frequently and that their friendship has only grown in recent months.
