For a while in 2022, Kanye West was everywhere. His tired act was unavoidable for people sick of him, with one controversy followed by another chapter in his epic meltdown.

One guy searching high and low for the disgraced rapper and clothing designer is his former manager Thomas St. John. He wants to find him so he can serve him legal papers.  He’s suing West for breach of contract.  He claims his old pal agreed to pay him a $300,000 per month retainer. Things were cool until the two had an “aggressive” meeting. After that, the payments stopped.

Here’s part of the wording in the lawsuit.

“St. John needed a guarantee that West would not abruptly abandon the business relationship, plus the financial costs and risks associated with committing to him as a client. But Mr. St. John offered to settle for at least an 18-month contract.”

The amount at stake isn’t chump change. The number in the lawsuit is $4.5 million.  According to published reports, West approached him in early 2022 to provide business management, taxation services, and accounting.

In other words, St. John was “retained to act as Kanye’s most senior financial advisor.”

Here’s more from the lawsuit about the meeting that led to Kanye not paying on the contract.

“At this meeting, Mr. West became heated and aggressive. He screamed at Mr. St. John and said he no longer wanted to work with (St. John). When confronted by the 18-month commitment that had just been made, Mr. West stated words to the effect of ‘The 18-month term was bullshit’ and ‘You’re insane for even thinking I would stick to it.’”

According to St. John, West owes him 15 months of payments.

Kanye’s fortune is shrinking fast. Down from a reported $6.6 billion net worth to roughly $400 million.  Stay tuned to see if he honors the $300K monthly child support payments he’s on the hook for with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
