“It’s Common Sense!” – Mike Tyson Says Getting Older Has Made Him More Conservative

The former heavyweight champion credits “aging” and the chaotic world we live in today to have caused him to become more conservative.

In an interview with Greta Van Susteren on her podcast, The Record with Greta Van Susteren, Mike Tyson said that although his Republican views have angered some of his friends, he feels that it’s “common sense.”

“My family gets mad, my friends get mad when we talk politics,” Tyson told Van Susteren.

“When I was younger, I was all-out liberal. But as I get older, and I look at my children, and I see what’s out there in the world, I get a little conservative.”

“It’s common sense, looking at the world we have now. You want safety,” Tyson expressed.

Gov. Ron DeSantis speaks during the AP Florida Legislative Planning Session on Oct.29, 2019 in Tallahassee.

While Tyson is open about his conservative views, he avoids expressing support for various Republican politicians.

When Van Susteren questioned Tyson for his opinions on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Tyson responded by saying,

“I can’t talk names … the last time I tried to talk politics, Wow, did they give me a beating. I stay away from politics and religion.”

“They stole my freedom of speech,” Tyson said boldly.

While he refrains from endorsing most Republican politicians, Tyson was an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump in 2016.

“He’s an underdog, and no one likes the fact that he is winning,” Tyson told Good Day New York in 2016.

“I know Trump. This is a good thing. Vote on Trump.”

The Tyson Cultivation School + Resort

According to The Blast, 20 acres of Tyson’s ranch is dedicated to agriculture, while another section of the grounds will be devoted to the Tyson Cultivation School, to help cannabis breeders learn the best techniques for growing their plants.

“I thought about how much good I could do by helping people with cannabis. It was a no brainer,” Tyson told Cannabis Tech Today of his business.

According to GQ, Mike Tyson engaged in substance abuse after his boxing career was over and marijuana helped him steer away from harder drugs.

“It changed his life,” says Rob Hickman, Tyson’s business partner.

Now, Tyson plans to build of a cannabis resort on the Tyson Ranch.
The plans for the resort, which is currently under construction include a hotel, a ‘lazy ride’ river, and a festival site for an annual cannabis and music festival.
