Islam is officially the fastest growing religion in the world, beating out Christianity by a mile, as Pew Research notes.

By 2060, the religion is expected to grow by 70 percent, while Christianity lags behind at just 34 percent. Right now, the world is 24 percent Muslim and 31 percent Christian, showing that the far-east religion is catching up. Muslims are expected to be the most dominant religion by half century’s end. And by that time, almost a third of the world is expected to be a practicing Muslim.

Some can take pride in their expanding numbers, but there is one simple explanation, and it’s not successful conversions. More religious people have more kids, it’s that simple. Muslim women have an average of 2.9 children, with Christians at 2.6. The Jewish religion is expected to grow by 15 percent. Their religion doesn’t make an active effort to recruit people, so that rise is clearly based on the Orthodox and Hasidic community, who produce the highest number of kids in the western world.

In the span of 12 years, from 2007 to 2019, the world saw a 13% drop in annual births. That’s more than one percent a year. So, while Muslims might have birth numbers to boast about, it isn’t because people are eager to join their ranks. Simply put, non religious people don’t value the importance of having kids the way religious people do. 16% of the world identifies themselves as non religious.

But Pat himself uncovered some other key potential reasons on his podcast with his guest Maajid Nawaz. Nawaz would certainly be the expert to consult with on this topic. He was a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, which advocated for spreading Muslim ideals throughout the world, often through force. He has since disavowed the group and has advocated for a more secular version of Islam:

A less prevalent reason for the growth of the Muslim religion might be a result of the western world’s obsession with all things woke, and the fact that the traditional family structure is crumbling.

“You won’t find much traction for the idea that men with penises are women. So there’s a lot to be hopeful about. A lot of this woke crap has no traction amongst Muslims. Nor did the Covid mandates by the way. Some of the biggest opponents during that era were Muslims,” Nawaz said.

In the Western world, Muslims had their right to worship taken away because of lockdowns. Couple that with the transgender ideology emerging, and you have a one-two punch. It’s not surprising that the religion seems attractive to those no longer willing to put up with corporate and societal ESG.
