“Whistleblower X,” the anonymous source that alerted Congress to alleged corruption in the Department of Justice probe into Hunter Biden, has been identified as “a gay Democrat married to a man.” The Whistleblower was identified ahead of a congressional hearing this week as Joseph Ziegler, a 13-year veteran of the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division.

Appearing alongside his supervisor and fellow whistleblower Special Agent Gary Shapely, Ziegler testified that the DOJ’s years-long investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged crimes had been corrupted by outside political influence. Prior to the hearing, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said of the then-unknown whistleblower: “I think they’re disgusted at how the Democrat Party and the liberal media has treated the first whistleblower [Shapely].”

Hunter Biden, the 53-year-old son of President Joe Biden, has been mired in various criminal allegations since his infamous laptop leak. Despite longstanding allegations that the president’s son engaged in bribery, foreign collusion, and influence peddling (not to mention drug use, solicitation of prostitution, and illegal firearm possession), no significant action was taken until just last month.

After all that time, he was eventually charged with knowingly and willfully failing to pay income tax in excess of $100,000.00, to which he pled guilty. On top of the misdemeanors collected from tax fraud, Biden was also charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm despite his addiction to controlled substances.

But as Valuetainment previously reported, the gun charges were directed to a Pretrial Diversion Agreement. This means that after the completion of a diversion program, Biden’s gun charge could be revoked. Biden will not serve jail time for these charges based on an agreement reached with United States Attorney David Weiss.

However, Ziegler and Shapely testified that the DOJ investigators deliberately “slow-walked” the investigation and covered up evidence to protect Biden from serious charges—and possibly prevent blowback on the president himself. Ziegler further stated that ““If the Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss followed DOJ policy as he stated in his most recent letter, Hunter Biden should have been charged with a tax felony, and not only the tax misdemeanor charge.”

In a 15-page opening statement made public by the House Oversight Committee ahead of the hearing, Ziegler addresses “corrosion of ethical standards and the abuse of power that threaten our nation”—but he also takes a moment to address the identity politics of the situation.

“I had recently heard an elected official say that I must be more credible because I am a gay Democrat married to a man,” he said. “I’m no more credible than this man sitting next to me due to my sexual orientation or my political beliefs…I hope that I am an example to other LGBTQ people out there, who are questioning doing the right thing at a potential cost to themselves and others. We should ALWAYS do the right thing, no matter how painful the process might be,”

“I kind of equate this to coming out,” he continued. “It was honestly one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I contemplated scenarios that would have been highly regrettable. But I did what was right…”
