California Senator Dianne Feinstein has been making waves as her barely there body gets wheeled around the US senate floor. Democrats need those votes more than anything.
Until her return last week, the 89 year old was absent from the senate for three months, as she apparently recovered from a bout of shingles. But upon her return, with Chuck Schumer opportunistically pushing her around in a wheelchair, Feinstein’s condition seemed far worse than what the establishment led on.

For at least half a year, Feinstein has been battling accusations that her mental faculties are no longer there, suffering intense dementia. Aids privately told Politico that she’d tell her staff what her vote was going to be on an issue just an hour after she already finished that same vote. She’d interrupt herself mid conversation and forget what she was talking about. And upon her return, a reporter asked her how her absence was. She bizarrely responded, “I haven’t been gone, I’ve been working.”
Her physical condition looks terrible as well, as one of her eyelids is almost swollen shut. California Congressman Ro Khanna called on Feinstein to resign about a month ago. He was quickly called sexist by Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who, despite her retirement, is still pulling the Democratic Party strings. “I don’t know what political agendas are at work that are going after Sen. Feinstein in that way. I’ve never seen them go after a man who was sick in the Senate in that way,” Pelosi said.
So why doesn’t Feinstein just resign? It’s not out of respect for her tenure. It’s because Nancy Pelosi wants her longtime friend and ally, California Congressman Adam Schiff, to win her seat in November.
So Pelosi sent her daughter, Nancy Prowda, out to do her dirty work. Prowda has been the most consistent person by Feinstein’s side. She’s been her de-facto aide and caregiver, shooing her away from reporters when they come close to engaging in conversation with the ailing senator.
Prowda has no official title in Feinstein’s office. She just usurped control one day, and all of Feinstein’s staff members stepped aside in deference to their queen.
An anonymous source close with Feinstein told Politico, “If Feinstein resigns right now, there is an enormous probability that Barbara Lee gets appointed — thus, it makes it harder for Schiff.”

In the battle for Feinstein’s senate seat next year, Congresswoman Barbara Lee is a serious contender and is black. Governor Gavin Newsom promised to appoint a black woman to the seat should a vacancy arise due to Feinstein’s resignation. The obvious choice would be Lee. But Lee has voted against both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and takes a more anti-elite left approach in Congress. She’s never been the establishment’s darling, and that’s the problem. Schiff has been. Think Trump and Russia, Russia, Russia. Schiff was the impeachment point person in Congress.
It’s likely that Dianne Feinstein is too unaware to understand a single thing that’s going on. Prowda has been wheeling Feinstein away from reporters questions mid sentence. She knows she can’t have the California senator utter a single word, lest her true mental competency be exposed.
So, she’s making Feinstein’s decisions for her. Pelosi’s daughter, or anyone on Feinstein’s staff, could gingerly direct her to resign with a single stroke of a pen, or just send out an e-mail announcing her resignation on the senator’s behalf. They could allow her to live at home and retire, getting the homecare she’d need to live comfortably.
Instead, Prowda is squeezing every last bit of life out of her workhorse. It’s likely, as Feinstein recovers from shingles and is losing her memory, that it is best for her to preserve energy.
Instead, thanks to Nancy Pelosi, Weekend at Bernie’s becomes a reality on the floor of the US Senate.
