Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk continues to wade into deep social media waters. And now, perhaps in light of some recent developments, he is aiming his snark at the so-called woke culture.
On Saturday, Musk took to Twitter for some levity about a “new game” he called “Woketopia.”
The tweet: “Woketopia. Battle for the Moral High Ground in this new game!”
Musk has likely felt pressure lately over his COVD-19 vaccination stance (he is not all on board, it seems).
He also – possibly – could be questioning his decision to defy a local shutdown order at his factory in Fremont, Calif. Newly released documents revealed Musk’s factory experienced hundreds of coronavirus cases after he reopened the plant.
Another factor, according to Fox Business story: He’s facing a lawsuit from a Tesla investor who alleges Musk’s “erratic tweets” are violating his fiduciary duty as CEO.
As for the Woketopia game?
Musk credited computer games for his original venture into computer programming.
When he was 12, Musk coded a video game called “Blastar,” which he sold for $500 to PC and Office Technology magazine.
“[It was] a trivial game… but better than Flappy Bird,” Musk said, via WaitButWhy.
Other big names in tech weighed in.
“That would actually be an interesting game to design,” tweeted the computer scientist Paul Graham.
Game designer Tyler Glaiel rolled his eyes (via Twitter) and replied to the Musk tweet, “ok boomer.”
Others had comments such putting a finer point on things, calling it “a game where I can … walk up to isolated strangers outside and tell them to put a mask on while holding mine below my chin to say it.”
Conservatives are pushing the narrative of a “woke utopia” that they say those on the left continue to pursue via cancel culture.
