You can expect two things at any UFC fight card, especially those in Las Vegas, where the league is headquartered; rabid fans and tons of media coverage.

Tonight’s 13-bout Fight Night card at Apex Gym on the UFC campus will lack both. No fans or reporters will be on site.

These are the Friday night televised fight cards Dana White put together when the pandemic first hit, so he could continue producing TV content for fans. The million-dollar question is, why would White shut it down for fans and reporters?

The hot rumor is that Mark Zuckerberg has rented out the event for himself and his guests.  Mackenzie Dren, fighting in the main event on Friday, said that when she met with the media on Wednesday.

“I know he’ll be there. But I don’t know if it’s just, like, literally him and his wife, if he’s going to have friends, or if it’s just like a small party. I don’t know. I’m excited, and that just makes me more driven to put on a good show. I know everyone’s watching on TV, but for Mark and whoever’s going to be there, I’ll put on a show. That’s what they want to see, is a show. Then we’re going to give a show.”

Zuck seems to be more interested in the fight game than the Meta, Facebook, and Instagram game lately. He’s posted videos of his MMA training online and spends a lot of time in the gym.

The man who runs UFC knows the answer but isn’t saying much. Dana White went on Twitter this week to deny the rumor that it’s a Zuckerberg-only production.

Surely photos will leak.

Maybe Zuck is on the card and actually fighting?

Check Instagram Friday night for clues.
