When you played the word association game about Twitter employees before Elon Musk bought the company, the words “coddled,” “pampered,” “soft,” and “entitled” came to mind.

This is the company where the previous CEO decided that employees would never have to come to the office to work ever again if they chose not to.

Here is a list of some of the perks lavished on Twitter workers in the past.

Complimentary breakfast and lunch and discounted gourmet dinners that average about $5.

A music jam room. A video arcade.  Unlimited paid time off and unlimited sick days were just a few others.

It makes you wonder if any work got done.

Well, those days are over. Musk has given employees until Thursday night to commit to “extremely hardcore” work or leave the company.

That is according to a CNN story, which showed an excerpt of the alleged memo Musk sent out.

“Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

Wow. That type of wording might make employees want to get a massage at their desks or take a week off.

Musk is making employees sign off on being committed to working harder.  Here’s more from the memo.

“If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below.”

Employees who have not committed to the new work standards will receive three months’ severance.

Musk plans on lessening his workload and appointing someone to run the company so he can go back to his other 4 full-time jobs and trim his 120 hours work week.
