There has to be a survey and list for everything created, so here is the one that lists which decade had the most popular music.

And the winner is? The 1990s, according to an Axios story that got their data from Luminate.

The reason why is because Gen Xers, Millenials, and Gen Z music fans all love music from the 1990s.

Here are some observations from experts as to why that decade scored so highly. Apparently, people born in the 1960s to the 1980s have started to listen to more music than before because of the pandemic. Also, the 1990s was the last music era that was not in the digital world.  It was pre-Napster, which changed everything.

All this is great news for musical acts from that era, as they are having their music catalogs being gobbled up for huge bucks.

Some incredible acts came out in the 1990s.  Snoop Dogg, Whitney Houston, Nirvana, Notorious B.I.G., Mariah Carey, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., and Guns N’Roses, to name a few.

Coming in second place was the 2020s, followed by the 1980s and 2000s.
