Remember the days when Twitter only allowed 140 characters per tweet? Yeah, that made it imperative to ensure you got straight to the point.

Currently, the limit is 280, and in the future, you might be able to write a chapter of a non-fiction book in one single tweet.

Elon Musk implied that was going to happen when he responded to a Twitter user who asked him if it was confirmed that Twitter would raise its character limit to 4,000.

Musk replied, “yes.” He didn’t give more information, but back in November, he tweeted that long-tweet potential was coming soon. Will it be 4,000 characters? We don’t know for sure, but 4,000 would seem to fit in the “long tweet” category.

It’s been five years since Twitter made news by doubling the character limit. Since then, they’ve seemed to focus on suppressing free speech and being available 24/7 to serve the Democratic Party, but now engineers are working on new orders from their new boss. And he wants long-tweet ability.

In other Twitter news, they announced they would relaunch their Twitter Blue subscription service, which offers users a verified blue checkmark and other perks. The cost will be $11 per month for Apple users only.

It’s payback for Apple taking a 30% commission from in-app purchases.
