We just can’t get rid of her.

President Biden just appointed Neera Tanden as the head of the Domestic Policy Council, replacing Susan Rice.

Originally, Biden tapped Tanden to lead the Office of Management and Budget.

But her nomination was quickly torpedoed. She was a key player on Hillary Clinton’s 2016. Biden clearly wanted to placate the Clinton camp.

But a number of tweets revealed that she’d be pretty biased. She tweeted that “a vampire has more heart than Ted Cruz,” and said Sen. Susan Collins was “criminally ignorant.”

Quickly, senators said they would not vote for Tandem. Mitt Romney and Collins led the way, hardly the hard right, ultra partisan figures you can just swat away. Then Democrat Joe Manchin said he’d be opposed to her nomination, and it was quickly withdrawn.

But Biden wants to give her another shot, for better, or most likely, for worse.

As Domestic Policy Advisor, Tanden will have on overseer role, and advise the president on domestic, national security and economic policy. She’ll essentially distill the information provided from each cabinet and relay that to the president with her thoughts.

The post carries some power, but not a ton. But this is Biden’s way of signaling that he’s still loyal to the Hillary Clinton camp, when he should probably just forget about them altogether.

With his support of Tanden, it’s clear to see where his loyalties lie. And it’s not with the American people.
