It’s okay for some former NFL players not to work in television. Seriously, ESPN, is it asking too much to require a shred of humanity and a trace of functioning brain cells from your analysts?

Bart Scott is one of the marginally talented ex-jocks that ESPN trots in front of the cameras in tailored suits to talk ball. Guys like Scott are out of their element and probably scared of being exposed for not being good at television commentary, so they overcompensate by saying things that make your blood boil.

Scott was asked to comment on the scary incident on Monday Night Football, where Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after tackling Higgins on what appeared to be a routine football play. He told Stephen A. Smith that Higgins essentially lowered his head and made contact with Hamlin with the crown of his helmet. He was incorrect. It was the shoulder of Higgins. The play was not illegal and far from dirty or even controversial.

What’s interesting is what happened next. NFL players and ex-players pounced on Scott.

Dallas Cowboys mega star Micah Parsons said it best, questioning how Scott could be so heartless as to blame Higgins, who must be devastated over what happened on this random play.

Here’s a tweet from Parsons.

“Like does not even consider how tee Huggins feels before airing some bull shut like that! That traumatic event he just went through! I swear some of these tv guys have too much egos on these stages we give them !”

Former star offensive lineman Alex Whitworth supported Parson’s tweet, saying this.

“I feel you young legend! On every level! Like bro, it’s not about this guy and his hot takes right now!  It’s about our brotherhood putting our arms around each other and pulling closer together for our brothers! Not that BS!”

Oh, and this is not the first time Bart Scott has shown what an unprofessional, unqualified bozo of a network analyst he is. A year ago, Joe Burrow torched his former team, the Baltimore Ravens, for over 500 yards passing. Scott went on ESPN and essentially said Burrow should be targeted for extra physical or dirty play each time Baltimore faced the Bengals in the future. It was about a half-yard short of saying the Ravens should put a bounty on Burrow.

It’s okay not to work on TV, Bart Scott. Really. You don’t see many CPAs trying to suit up as an outside linebacker in the NFL just because they want to.
