Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, was selected on Wednesday to serve as an at-large delegate for his home state of Florida at the Republican National Convention in July. The youngest Trump, who has been largely kept out of the political spotlight until now, will join several of his siblings and other high-profile GOP figures to officially name his father as the Republican presidential nominee.

According to a GOP delegates list first reported by NBC News, Barron is scheduled to appear at the convention alongside his older half-brothers Eric and Donald Jr., his half-sister Tiffany, and Donald Jr’s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle, all of whom will number among Florida’s 41 total delegates. Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, who both served as White House senior advisors during the first Trump administration, have previously said that they have no desire to return to politics.

One Trump campaign member further revealed to Politico that Barron “is very interested in our nation’s political process” and is looking forward to participating in the convention.

“We have a great delegation of grassroots leaders, elected officials and even Trump family members,” Florida GOP chairman Evan Power said. “Florida is continuing to have a great convention team, but more importantly we are preparing to win Florida and win it big.”

Barron Trump, who turned 18 in March, is the only son of former President Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump. His upcoming high school graduation on May 17 briefly brought the teenage Trump into the political drama surrounding his father’s hush money trial when it was suggested that the former president could be barred from attending the ceremony.

However, New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan ultimately agreed to grant a recess in court proceedings that day to allow former President Trump to make the trip back to Florida.

With Barron preparing to make an unexpected political debut, many of his father’s supporters are embracing him as a new icon of “Team Trump”—despite the 6’ 7” teenager having never spoken in public before.

Barron is handsome, tall – taller even than his father – and very knowledgeable for someone his age,” an inside source told the Daily Mail. “He’s also far more politically interested than people realize.”

“I see all the attributes of a future President if he has the appetite for it. And why not? He has the Trump genes.”
