It’s interesting what people say when they don’t know they are being recorded. Project Veritas secretly recorded a senior engineer at Twitter who revealed some rather incredible details about the work culture at Twitter and the overall vibe regarding Elon Musk’s potential takeover of the company.
For anyone who had suspicions that Twitter actively censors certain political beliefs, Mr. Siru Murugesan certainly verified that notion. His comments were released on Monday night, and there were some doozies.
As for the censorship issue, Murugesan said, “we’re actually censoring the right, and not the left. It’s true. There is bias. It is what it is today.” Oh, and regarding the political leanings of his colleagues, his direct quote was, “some of my colleagues are like super left, left, left, left, left. “
Is free speech valued at Twitter? Not so much, according to the engineer. “Twitter does not believe in free speech. Elon blesses in free speech.”
Here’s another quite revealing quote when it comes to Twitter employees’ thoughts on capitalism .“Our jobs are at stake — he’s a capitalist, and we weren’t really operating as capitalists, more like very socialist. We’re all like Commie as f–k.”
There have been suggestions that if Musk completes the purchase, he should move the company to a red state and bail on California. Again, Murugesan brings in the communism reference as he describes what his woke co-workers call California. “I think it’s just like the environment like you’re there and you become like this Commie — they call it “Commifornia.”
Work ethic is not something that is currently promoted at Twitter; as the engineer said, because of the fear of Musk buying Twitter, many employees are barely working, including him. “I basically went to work like four hours a week last quarter. And it’s just how it works in our company.”
