Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, has issued an apology to “the Jewish community” on his Instagram account in a post entirely written in Hebrew. This follows more than a year’s worth of anti-Jewish comments made by the hip-hop artist and fashion mogul, including a ten-minute rant about Zionists delivered just two weeks ago amid the failed release of his twelfth solo studio album Vultures.

“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions. It was not my intention to offend or disrespect and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused. I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity,” his post read (according to Google Translate).

Ye debuted Vultures, a joint album with artist Ty Dolla Sign, first over the loudspeakers at a Jamaican restaurant in Miami and then in a live concert in the Miami neighborhood of Wynwood. His daughter North joined him on stage as he performed for a crowd of loyal fans, who had been alerted about the show only 24 hours prior.

Since his disappearance from the public eye last autumn following a series of anti-Jewish tirades (culminating in an appearance on Alex Jones’ Infowars show with far-right provocateur Nick Fuentes during which Ye praised Hitler and called on Jewish people to forgive him), Ye has been working on Vultures abroad, first in Japan, then in Italy, and then in Saudi Arabia. He recently announced his plans to build a 100,000-acre city in the Middle East and is allegedly recruiting a team of engineers and architects to help.

A few days after the live performance of Vultures on Dec. 11th, Ye held a private listening party during which he delivered a ten-minute monologue about Zionism, the exploitation of Black people, and the entertainment industry.

The new album, which was supposed to be released on Dec. 15th, is partially being held up by pop star Nicki Minaj, who refuses to give Ye permission to release a song that she is featured on. Minaj explained she does not want her new album, Pink Friday 2, to have attention taken away from it by a song that was recorded over three years ago.

It is unclear if there are other reasons for the delayed release of Vultures, and if Ye’s Instagram apology is related to it. Representatives of the artist now say it will be released on Jan. 12th, 2024.
