Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, inflation, oligarch’s toys being taken away. All big stories that have been pushed down in importance this week as most of the world obsesses over the shocking moment from Sunday’s Oscars when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for telling a joke about his wife.
A new video surfaced that shows a new angle of the incident, taken from an audience member’s phone. The footage seemingly shows Jada Pinkett Smith laughing after her Fresh Prince hubby smacked Rock on center stage at the Academy Awards.
The caption for the social post by @akademics said this.
“Here is an angle most people have not seen. Look at Jada’s reaction.”
No word from Mr. and Mrs. Smith about the new video that just adds to their collective bad look of the entire week.
On Wednesday night, Chris Rock addressed the situation for the first time as he performed at a comedy club in Boston. He told the crowd he is “still processing” the incident and may have more to say soon.
Meanwhile, the Academy is still investigating the incident. It will release a formal report that could and should include some stiff disciplinary measures against Smith, especially since the revelation that they tried to remove Smith from the show after he slapped Rock, but the actor refused to leave.
