The investigation into classified documents found at President Biden’s home in Delaware, Maryland, is getting more intense after the White House’s response to a demand for visitor logs. Republican House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer sent a letter to the White House asking for the visitor logs to Biden’s Delaware home, more documents, and more communications and information about searches being conducted. Monday, White House Attorneys responded, saying there are no visitors logs that track guests who visit the President’s Delaware home.

Why are these visitor logs necessary?

The investigation was sparked after several classified documents were found in Biden’s home and office. The White House announced over the weekend five more pages of additional classified documents were found at the President’s Delaware home last week. Before that, documents were found in his garage near a corvette. The initial finding of classified documents was made in November at Biden’s office at the Penn Biden Center. The announcement about finding those documents was not released to the public in January 2023. Comer insists this is a serious national security issue because the documents may have been accessible to people without security clearances. Comer says, “It is troubling that classified documents have been improperly stored at the home of President Biden for at least six years, raising questions about who may have reviewed or had access to classified information.”

Many find it difficult to believe there are no visitor logs for meetings held at the President’s home. However, a spokesman for the White House says Biden’s home is not an official government property; therefore, there are no records of who goes in and out of the home. The Secret Service has also responded by answering questions about visitor logs. According to the New York Times, the Secret Service says it also does not keep logs of who visits the President in his personal home. The Secret Service also says they are not the “custodians” of records and logs of government buildings, but they do have access to those logs. Visitor logs are kept with the National Archives and Records Administration.

Former President Trump is responding to this news on his social media platform, Truth Social, calling the FBI and the DOJ crooked, corrupt, and broken. Trump was recently involved in a similar investigation when classified documents were found at his Mar-A-Lago home. He says agencies are going easy on Biden, and the country is in serious trouble.

What’s next?
We can only predict what will be next in the Biden investigation of classified documents. The questions that remain are what was in the classified documents? Will Biden face any consequences, and will there likely be changes to visitor log procedures for top-ranking government officials?
