It’s almost universally agreed that Joe Biden is not a good President of the United States, but nobody can argue that he is very good at one thing; using a fancy pen to sign his name on laws that cost taxpayers trillions.

In November of 2021, he put his name on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will print $550 billion in cash to be used over the next five years to build or improve new bridges, roads, broadband, rapid transit, and water and energy systems.

It sounds fancy, but exactly where is that money going?  To new uniforms that actually fit TSA agents?  An underground tunnel to fight traffic jams in Los Angeles?  No, and no.

The money is distributed through formula programs that distribute money to states for projects.

A CNN highlighted four projects that will be receiving some of those billions.

In Tampa Bay, a new port will be added, providing room for three large ships to be docked simultaneously.  That’s a big deal and could help alleviate supply chain challenges and create almost 1,000 new jobs.

In Phoenix, a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge will be built for people to cross over the Rio Salado River. It will allow carless residents in South Phoenix to access jobs and services downtown.

Berlin, New Hampshire will get a check for almost $20 million to fix roads, sidewalks, and parking areas and create a snow-melting system.

Boston’s Logan Airport will be able to modernize Terminal E, which as anyone who has flown through it is well aware, needs to be done. The baggage claim area will be expanded, and a new HVAC system will be installed.
