A high school volleyball player from North Carolina is urging state legislature to pass a bill prohibiting biological males from participating in female sports after she endured a serious injury from a spiked ball, delivered by a transgender opponent.
Hiwassee Dam High School senior, Payton McNabb explained to state representatives on Wednesday that she suffered a significant neck injury and concussion when a trans athlete forcefully directed the ball into her face during a game in September.
McNabb claims she struggles from the effects of her injuries to this day, including compromised vision, partial paralysis on the right side of her body, and chronic headaches. She also stated she has had to get accommodations for her studies as a result of her “impaired” ability to comprehend and recollect information.
“Due to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association policy allowing biological males to compete against biological females my life has forever been changed,” McNabb stated. She further added, “Allowing biological males to compete against biological females is dangerous. I may be the first to come before you with an injury, but if this doesn’t pass, I won’t be the last.”
“I’m not here for me because I know that my time playing is coming to an end,” McNabb said. “I’m here for every biological female athlete behind me. My little sister, my cousins, my teammates.”
All-American Kentucky swimmer, Riley Gaines who tweeted, “Watch the clip of Payton McNabb getting spiked in the face by a male competing with the women,” echoed Mcnabb’s sentiments as she, too, has pushed for legislation.
