Elon Musk is so busy with his 19 full-time jobs, it’s hard to believe he has time to keep his Twitter feuds and conversations with world leaders going. But somehow he does.
If you’ve been following the back and forth between the world’s richest person and the United Nations, I have an update for you.
But first, here’s the back story. The head of the UN’s food-assistance branch was being interviewed by CNN, and he called out billionaires like Musk and Jeff Bezos, asking them to help reach a $6 billion goal to save millions of people who were at risk of starving to death.
Musk responded, saying he was interested to see how the money would be spent. If they could show a clear path to how the money would actually go to starving people, he would sell Tesla stock and make the donation.
So the World Food Programme hit Musk back on Tuesday, on Twitter of course, and assured him that they can give him all the info he was requesting.
“This hunger crisis is urgent, unprecedented, AND avoidable. @elonmusk, you asked for a clear plan & open books. Here it is! We’re ready to talk with you – and anyone else – who is serious about saving lives. The ask is $6.6B to avert famine in 2022:”
Included in the proposal is $3.5 billion for food and the delivery of it to where it’s needed most, along with $2 billion in cash for food vouchers and other expenses.
